Project
Performance assurance testing with ORE Catapult (UK)
Delivering next-generation offshore wind technology in the UK
Ming Yang Smart Energy is working with the UK’s Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult to support the introduction of its next-generation 18.5 MW offshore wind turbine technology to the UK market.
Under the agreement, the main bearing for the 18.5 MW platform will be tested at ORE Catapult’s National Renewable Energy Centre in Blyth, Northumberland. The programme will subject the component to simulated real-world conditions, replicating the loads and operating environment experienced by large-scale offshore wind turbines at sea, supporting long-term reliability and performance in demanding offshore environments.
This collaboration marks Ming Yang Smart Energy’s first testing programme with ORE Catapult and reflects a growing engagement with the UK offshore wind sector. ORE Catapult brings extensive experience supporting the deployment of advanced offshore wind technologies that have gone on to play a significant role in the UK market.
By working with one of the world’s leading offshore wind innovation centres, Ming Yang is strengthening the readiness of its 18.5 MW platform for deployment in the UK and international markets, reinforcing its commitment to rigorous engineering, proven performance, and long-term reliability across Europe.
