- Norwegian Offshore Wind unites approximately 300 member companies in the country that pioneered floating offshore wind, a market targeting 30 GW offshore wind by 2040.
- The step follows Ming Yang Europe's recent entry into Germany's BWO, deepening its presence in Europe's leading national industry bodies.
Hamburg / Haugesund, 28 May 2026 — Ming Yang Europe, today announced that it has joined Norwegian Offshore Wind (NOW), Norway's largest offshore wind industry cluster. The membership underlines Ming Yang's commitment to building deep, long-term partnerships with the European offshore wind community, and in particular with Norway, a country that pioneered floating offshore wind technology.
Norwegian Offshore Wind unites approximately 300 member companies, ranging from start-ups to multinational developers, and represents the entire offshore wind value chain. The cluster grew out of the Marine Energy Test Centre (METCentre) in Haugesund, where the world's first floating wind turbine was installed in 2009. In 2021, Norwegian Offshore Wind was awarded the prestigious ARENA Pro Cluster status by Norwegian Innovation Clusters, recognising its role as a leading driver of innovation and supply-chain development in the global offshore wind industry. Through its 17 industry-led working groups, and international cluster-to-cluster partnerships, NOW provides a unique platform to connect supply-chain companies, technology developers and policymakers, both domestically and across the world's key offshore wind markets.
For Ming Yang, becoming a member of NOW is an important sign of its further integration into the European offshore wind ecosystem. Norway has set a target of 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2040, with a strong emphasis on floating wind, an area in which Ming Yang holds globally recognised technological leadership.
"Joining Norwegian Offshore Wind is more than a formal membership, it is a sign of our continued commitment to working hand in hand with Europe's offshore wind industry," said Horatio Evers, CEO Ming Yang Europe. "Norway is the birthplace of floating offshore wind, and Norwegian Offshore Wind has built an industry community that we genuinely want to learn from and contribute to. Our ambition in Europe is to manufacture locally, partner locally and innovate locally. Being part of NOW puts us shoulder-to-shoulder with the developers, suppliers and research institutions that will shape the next decade of offshore wind. We look forward to bringing our expertise to that conversation."
"We are delighted to welcome Ming Yang Europe to our cluster," said Arvid Nesse, CEO of Norwegian Offshore Wind. "Our mission is to build world leading supply chains for floating offshore wind, and that mission is inherently international. Ming Yang brings significant technological capability and operational track record in offshore and floating wind, and our members will benefit from that exchange."
Ming Yang Europe's membership in Norwegian Offshore Wind follows the company's recent entry into the German Offshore Wind Association (BWO) in March 2025 and complements its broader European engagement strategy, which includes plans for local manufacturing, partnerships with European developers and operators, and active participation in the policy dialogue on Europe's path to climate neutrality.
At the North Sea Summit in Hamburg in January 2026, European governments renewed and strengthened their long-term offshore wind ambitions, committing to build up to 100 GW of cross-border offshore wind capacity in the North Seas region, confirming the wider goal of 300 GW of offshore wind by 2050, and endorsing a plan to install 15 GW of offshore wind annually from 2031 to 2040. Targets of this scale call for the very best of European and international technology working together, and Ming Yang is determined to play its part
