Horatio Evers joins Leadership Dialogue at the WFO Asia Pacific Summit in Tokyo
On 1 July 2026, the World Forum Offshore Wind (WFO) Asia Pacific Summit convened in Tokyo under the theme "From Ambition to Project Execution", bringing together senior delegates from government, developers, manufacturers, insurers and financial institutions across Asia and Europe.
Horatio Evers, our CEO for Europe, joined the opening day of the summit for a Leadership Dialogue, an on-stage conversation with Gunnar Herzig, Managing Director of WFO.
For Horatio, the summit's theme captured exactly where the industry stands today, and his message from the stage was a simple one: floating offshore wind is core to our strategy, and Japan, with its deep waters and typhoon conditions, is exactly what our floating solutions, such as the Ming Yang OceanX platform, were built for.
OceanX, deployed in 2024, is the most powerful floating wind platform in operation at 16.6 MW, engineered to continue generating in severe typhoon conditions.
Japan is one of the most dynamic emerging offshore wind markets in the world. The country has set a target of 10 GW of offshore wind by 2030, rising to 30-45 GW by 2040, of which at least around 15 GW is expected to be floating. Momentum is already building: Japan's first commercial floating wind farm, off Goto in Nagasaki Prefecture, began operations in January 2026.
At a time when project delivery is under pressure worldwide, Horatio also underlined the value of a well-supplied, competitive global market. The industry needs more competition and capacity, not less. In March 2026, BloombergNEF's annual Global Wind Turbine Market Shares report placed us third among the world's wind turbine suppliers for 2025, a year in which global wind additions reached a record 169 GW.
Beyond the stage, the visit included meetings with clients, supply chain partners and other stakeholders, as well as valuable time spent with our Ming Yang Japan team. Horatio extended particular thanks to Takeshi Murase, Tengfei Wang and Fangyuan Sun for their support during the visit.
Japan is moving, and Ming Yang looks forward to being a part of it.
