Ming Yang at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026

From 22 to 25 September 2026, we hosted a booth at WindEnergy Hamburg, home to our European headquarters, R&D centre and growing European business. The event brought together more than 40,000 attendees from more than 100 countries and more than 1,600 exhibiting companies to discuss the latest innovations in wind technology and the key topics shaping the future of wind energy. Over the four days, we contributed to panel discussions and hosted our own sessions at our booth.

On 23 September, Horatio Evers, CEO of Ming Yang Europe, joined the panel “Are Offshore Wind Auctions Still Fit for Purpose?”. His message centred on continuity. Horatio emphasised that a reliable and consistent project pipeline is essential for Ming Yang, as it gives manufacturers the confidence to make the long-term investments Europe needs. He noted that confidence across the entire supply chain will allow us to contribute further to Europe’s ambitions and move a step closer to net zero. He called for the industry to move from planning and targets to delivery, with steel in the water and energy in homes.

Peter Wolf, our Director of Transport & Installation, took part in the panel “Building at Sea: The Next Frontier of Offshore Operations”. He addressed what he described as one of the most important questions facing the industry today, namely how to accelerate industrialisation in offshore wind while continuing to drive innovation. Peter challenged the assumption in Europe that there must be a choice between the two. He explained that industrialisation is critical but should not become a substitute for innovation. For Peter, the path to success lies in combining innovation, industrialisation, scale and competition, all of which are necessary to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and accelerate the clean energy transition. As he put it, “The future of offshore wind will not be built by choosing between innovation and industrialisation. It will be built by successfully combining both.”

Horatio Evers, our CEO for Europe, joined the opening day of the summit for a Leadership Dialogue, an on-stage conversation with Gunnar Herzig, Managing Director of WFO.

For Horatio, the summit's theme captured exactly where the industry stands today, and his message from the stage was a simple one: floating offshore wind is core to our strategy, and Japan, with its deep waters and typhoon conditions, is exactly what our floating solutions, such as the Ming Yang OceanX platform, were built for.

OceanX, deployed in 2024, is the most powerful floating wind platform in operation at 16.6 MW, engineered to continue generating in severe typhoon conditions.

Japan is one of the most dynamic emerging offshore wind markets in the world. The country has set a target of 10 GW of offshore wind by 2030, rising to 30-45 GW by 2040, of which at least around 15 GW is expected to be floating. Momentum is already building: Japan's first commercial floating wind farm, off Goto in Nagasaki Prefecture, began operations in January 2026.

That combination is at the heart of our own work. Our MYSE 18.5-260 prototype received its Provisional Type Certificate in April, and we remain on track for final certification in December. It is part of a new generation of turbine platforms designed to increase productivity while reducing energy costs.

Our booth hosted a series of sessions exploring our European approach, grid-friendly solutions and cybersecurity. The sessions provided a forum for two-way exchange, inviting new ideas and challenges to help develop our technology further.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us in Hamburg. We look forward to building on these conversations as we grow our European partnerships.
